“ For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18
Arthur Blessitt began a vibrant ministry reaching out to the poor, the disenfranchised and the criminal over 48 years ago in the heart of the hippie culture in Southern California. In 1968 everything changed, when he says God told him to pick up a cross—a physical cross—and carry it to the ends of the earth. He has carried the cross around the world in every nation and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s longest walk-- over 41,552 miles in 324 countries, Island groups and Territories.
At Azusa Now, after deep repentance, reconciliation, covenanting, worship, prayer and reflection, it was now time to build up an altar, a sacred reminder for the body of Christ and a sign to the world of the center of all we do and believe. We invited Arthur Blessitt and leaders of the main pentecostal and charismatic streams to join together in the center of the field at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and lead the gathering in this sobering moment.
