Return to blog

By Kelsey Bohlender

It began in 2014 with a divine interruption of a men’s meeting in Fredericksburg, Virginia. An explosion of prayer for over three hours brought forth the prophecy that a gathering of a million women on The Mall would hold back darkness and deal the final blow to Roe v. Wade. This was not on the agenda for the meeting, nor could these men visualize what it would take to mobilize 1,000,000 women for a Promise Keepers-type gathering. Yet, they all recognized the God moment. They waited – weeks, months, and years – knowing it would take a Holy Spirit swirl to bring this vision to fruition.

In March 2017, the wind of the Holy Spirit began to blow upon the embers of that Fredricksburg prophecy when Lou Engle called a 3-day Esther fast and tens of thousands of women (and men!) joined worldwide.  In the aftermath of those 3 days came the rumbling of a godly women’s revolution to contend with the wicked ideologies threatening to overtake our nation.  With the fear of the Lord, we began to dream about a million women gathering on The Mall to worship Jesus and declare Him as Lord of all.  Daring to believe the Spirit of God would empower mobilization, a stake was put in the ground declaring October 9, 2017 the day to “Rise Up – Prepare Like Esther, Rise Like Deborah,” gathering as women, daughters, and even whole families to The Mall to worship, pray, and act on behalf of justice.

In Deborah’s day, Israel had been oppressed by a pagan king for 20 years.  God’s people endured the worship of Baal and Molech with the sacrificing of children to these false gods until Deborah arose as a mother in Israel, declaring enough is enough (Judges 5:7)!  It was a woman who spurred the armies of Israel to fight in that day. It was a woman who took out the enemy of Israel. It was a woman who sang the song of the Lord over a nation in crisis.  What if women seized another divine moment in our day to once again become the hinge of history for an entire nation?  What if a woman could get the strategy for pushing back darkness in America?

On the first day of the Esther fast, a Kansas woman was fervently praying for the strategy to overturn Roe v. Wade.  That morning, she had a vision of William Wilberforce rolling out his petition before Parliament, pleading for the abolition of slavery.  Could this be the strategy, she wondered, something as simple as a petition to the Supreme Court?  It seemed impossible, but after seeking legal counsel, this mom from the Heartland was told that this idea could be worth its weight in gold with the current political landscape.

It had been 25 years since the landmark case Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which gave the U.S. Supreme Court an opportunity to reverse Roe v. Wade and its companion Doe v. Bolton. In conference, the justices voted 5-4 to overturn Roe and Doe. Then, at the 11th hour before the opinion was released, a centrist coalition of moderate judges - including Justice Kennedy who switched his vote - was formed to write a compromise that would weaken the Roe and Doe decisions, but still leave abortion as the law of the land.

What might have happened that day if more pro-life voices had been heard? What if a massive moral outcry had emerged from the American people? What would happen now if  another case presenting a new opportunity was brought before the Supreme Court? This Wilberforce-type petition could potentially make the difference between life and death.

The wife/mother/intercessor in the middle of America has moved forward with her idea. The petition is now available online for millions to sign as a symbol of their moral outcry. We believe this could be a sovereign and timely tool to wake up the Church and galvanize the national conscience to end the scourge of abortion in America. Then, on October 9th, the petition with over a million signatures will be rolled out on The Mall as a witness to heaven and earth that we do not accept the compromise that has allowed the unnecessary death of millions of innocent babies.

The song of Deborah calls to us in this hour of human history – “Awake, awake…sing a song!” (Judges 5:7).  Facing the crisis of national idolatry and apostasy, Deborah arose to sing praise to the Lord. She prophesied to kings and princes, declaring the glory of the one true God (Judges 5:3). It was Deborah’s moment to awaken to her divine purpose.  The Spirit of the Lord is beckoning women of all ages to awaken to their divine destinies, calling them to rise up in the beauty of femininity and to become the display of His splendor for the sake of His kingdom.  Will you awaken to the call and join the masses to RISE UP in Washington, DC on October 9th? Our voices will be heard first and foremost in heaven, but also in the halls of Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court. We will worship, pray and take action. For the sake of righteousness, justice and the glory of our God, it is time. Time to RISE UP!

The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host! Ps 68:11
