Day 10 - AWAKE!

“Let our watchword at this time be ‘California for Christ.” - Frank Bartleman

"And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground." Luke 22:43-44

This week my friend Chris Berglund had a dream in which he saw four generals stationed in the four corners of the nation: one in California, one in Florida, one in New England and another in the Northwest. The generals were each blowing a trumpet and, as they did, an angel named Awake was released across America. It was clear we had to have the trumpets blown - almost like a bugle call - to release this mighty angel.

All across America there is such a stirring. I’ve never seen a moment like this in my 40 years of intercession. Billy Graham’s death has created a firestorm. Right now is not the time to slumber... It’s time to blow the trumpets! To fast and pray! To drive the devil off the field! Casual religionists will be wakened from their sleep.

When the angels are blowing their trumpets it is clear that the generals of intercession and evangelism must blow them too or the mighty angel will not be released. We are calling the generals of California to blow the trumpets of the next times. A new era of revival is at the door. From this day onward the Kingdom of heaven is suffering violence and the violent are taking it by force.

Frank Bartleman, the great intercessor who fasted so much in 1905 before the Azusa Street Revival, exhorted California to know the times and not to slumber. In the days of the awe-wakening, he spoke these words:

“Let our watchword at this time be ‘California for Christ.’ God is looking for workers, channels, worms of the dust. Remember, He must have worms. Jesus’ life was pressed out  in prayer at every pore. This kind comes too high for most people. But may not this be our Lord’s ‘last call’?”

God, like Frank Bartleman who set himself to pray and fast unto the opening of the revival womb of Azusa Street, so too may you find men and women, young and old, who will travail for souls in California. Holy Spirit only you can produce this kind of prayer! I ask for it personally in my own life. Find a people who will say, “I will not let you go until you bless me!”
