TheCall Las Vegas
October 20, 2007* - UNLV's Thomas and Mack Center
From 10AM to 10PM
Note change of date. The original date, Sept. 1, involved an outdoor venue. In light of dealing with the heat at TheCall Nashville, TheCall Board decided that, for safety's sake, we needed to move the gathering indoors. At that point, moving the venue necessitated changing the date. We apologize for any confusion but trust TheCall Las Vegas will allow many more to participate more fully without having to worry about dehydration or the effects of the sun. Thank you for your understanding.
For decades, hundreds of thousands of people have been going out to the deserts of Las Vegas, a citadel of ungodliness now known as “Sin City” that has become a worldwide attraction for gambling, sexual immorality, materialism and wickedness.
Elsewhere in Nevada, a gathering called the “Burning Man” is held in the middle of the desert year after year. For a week, tens of thousands act out their fantasies of a world without rule and restraint in an orgy of hedonism and fire.
Two thousand years ago, there was another Burning Man who roamed the deserts of Judea. His name was John the Baptist. Historians tell us that hundreds of thousands of Jews went out into the wilderness to see this Nazirite Burning Man—the one Jesus called "a bright and blazing torch". He would turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the rebellious to the wisdom of the righteous. He prepared a whole nation for the coming of Jesus.
A week after Promise Keepers–1997 Stand in the Gap gathering, we visited the deserts of the Southwest to declare that a John the Baptist style Nazirite generation would go to the National Mall in DC to fast and pray, and it would be a sign that America was turning back to God. On September 2, 2000, four hundred thousand gathered for the first TheCall DC. Seven years later, we are calling forth another "Burning Man" in the desert where the call to fast and pray and make the vow to see America turn back to God first went forth. In Las Vegas, the city known for feasting and playing, we are calling 40,000 of this John the Baptist generation, both young and old, to fast and pray for this city and this nation. In 1967, "gambling" legally became "gaming" to remove the stigma of the sin. Sin became a sport and millions of lives have been affected by the gambling addiction. We will gather to believe God for a breakthrough in the heavens. What if thousands who come to Las Vegas would step into a world of dreams from Heaven rather than the nightmares of devastation? We believe that giants were meant to fall. We are fasting and praying that Las Vegas would be called Salvation City! Where you hear the sound of the trumpet, gather to us there, and there the Lord will fight for us!
