Revival has crashed like waves onto the shores of California. These waves of the manifest presence of God broke upon her destitute shores in 1906, 1919, 1947, 1948, 1967, 1980, and in 1994, each wave leaving behind a deposit of glory and a legacy of apostolic influence. Despite an environment of unspeakable decadence, corporate greed, and amidst a furnace of pornographic exportation and a plague of licentiousness, California is a land of hidden treasure. It is as if there is an irresistible force attracting the heart of God to her shores. Maybe God is drawn to her great pain or to her borders that host the planet's lost prophets of misplaced passions. Yet, whatever be the case, God sends His fiery passion to this California vineyard and when he does the entire world shares in the heat of the flame.

In 1946, from the womb of San Diego a man named Franklin Hall birthed a movement of prayer and fasting through a book titled Atomic Power With God Through Fasting and Prayer. Literally thousands were stirred to pursue lifestyles of consecration through prayer and extended fasting. The next year marked the beginning of a great healing revival, which in turn was followed by the campus revivals with men like Bill Bright and the Hollywood revivals in 1948 with men like Billy Graham. In fact, global outpourings began to occur in 1948. 

Demonstrating the reality of Joel 2, which promises that after cooperate prayer and fasting God will restore the land and pour out His spirit, Southern California witnessed firsthand the mercy, power and goodness of God. 

Today, I hear TheCall again: “Gather the people, call a fast, and afterwards I will pour out my spirit.” This fall, TheCall California will gather thousands from two generations to California to again fan the flames of fasting and prayer. We are asking God for the release of undeserved mercy, a great spiritual awakening, and the shaking of political thrones of iniquity in California that have legalized evil. We will set aside our individual agendas, and with one collective voice cry out for another wave of revival in our land.

Today California is in great crisis! Recently California legislators passed Bill 777 legally endorsing sexual immorality in public education and enticing our youth into sexual confusion. They are trying to pass other bills as well that would legalize homosexual marriage, silence the church’s voice on the matter, and jail any pastor who speaks out against these things.

I believe Bill 777 is a spiritual rage and backlash directly connected to the corporate repentance done for our sexual immorality on 7-7-07 at TheCall Nashville. What are the chances that the bill was numbered 777? In the face of prevailing darkness, now is the time to resist mightily the spirit of peaceful coexistence and apathetic resignation. We are coming to a Mount Carmel moment--a moment that I believe could be the church’s finest hour--a moment that she challenges her own compromise and then confronts forces of darkness that seek to demonize the culture.

This is the time for our light to break forth like the dawn! The church is not at the mercy of political decrees of destruction; Jesus alone is the Lord of history! I believe God is calling for the church, through the weapons of prayer and fasting, to act as an agent of righteous revolution in order to displace kings and overthrow their immoral decrees of destruction.

Therefore, we are summoning believers from all across the state of California, as well as those from surrounding states, to gather for a Joel 2 moment. When there is no remedy, when there is no natural hope, God still has a holy prescription. Blow the trumpet in Zion, gather the people, and call a fast. Let pastors and leaders gather to cry out to God for a move of repentance and prayer, signs and wonders, and a great spiritual awakening. We believe the harvest is ripe and that God is not done with the state that has spawned so many moves of God. 

If your heart burns and resonates with this sound, mobilize your communities and fan the flames of prayer! We must strike, strike, and strike again. I am daring to believe that history will speak of 2008 as the year of a great prayer reformation that launched the greatest harvest in history. Why not? 

In twenty years we will say to our children and grandchildren that we were there when stadiums were filled with fasting and prayer and the Lord responded with mercy and power once again.
